Cooking 7 wow i just made this and it was amazing! i didn't have apples, celery, beef stock, sultanas or peas and only had 3 sausages and used frozen corn, frozen beans, extra carrot and vegie stock to substitute some of the missing products (usually for myself and daughter when its just us 2) and it was a great way to spread them out and i think 2 teaspoons of curried powder made  it really spicy but i added in greek yogurt to my serve to make it a bit more mild for me but had great flavors and was delishious! will definatly do it again its good for a budget meal and is very forgiving if you adust the recipe in anyway  Love Cooking 6 Cooking 9 Cooking 2 Cooking 1 Cooking 10 Cooking 4 tmrc_emoticons.)

  • This recipe was unsuccessful

    Submitted by tavisbell on 5. December 2012 - 18:22.

This recipe was unsuccessful when following direction provided. The curried sausage part was fine and quite tasty although the potatoes did not whip correctly and I have doubts that it is possible at all with the instructions provided. I ended up making another batch of mashed potatoes the normal way.

Within the recipe it refers to another recipe from the ECB although the instructions between the two conflict. So, is it speed 4 PR speed 1. I can testify that speed four will chop the potato finely which will not enable you to determine best time to commence whip. The recipe is not written correctly or with clarity.

I think it is would be more benefitial to not refer to other recipes even if it is in the ECB because it would not taken many additional words to ensure clarity.

In future I would prob cook the potatoes seperately and prob. slightly boil the sausages on the stove as these could happen at the same time the curry sauce is cooking to save time and without getting the Varoma dishes you can save on some washing.

  • They were a little bit lumpy,

    Submitted by nik2 on 24. March 2012 - 12:10.

They were a little bit lumpy, so I think next time I might just set them on speed 1? I'm only very new at this so still learning! For some reason my sausages didn't cook in the varoma either?? So I added them mostly raw at the end before cooking for e 15 mins, so they were cooked by the end by we're more like sausage mince rather than pieces lol! The overall taste was delicious so I will have to try it again soon!

  • Hi Nik2, It shouldn't matter

    Submitted by tam1979 on 23. March 2012 - 22:13.

    Hi Nik2,

It shouldn't matter if the potato's are cut into small pieces as you want them cooked thoroughly to then be able to whip (mash) them so they do not turn out gluggy?

    How did your's turn out?

Great recipe, it was delicious.  the only change I made was I steamed potatoes in the basket while steaming the sausages.  Then mashed them afterwards.
