I used about 1kg of cauliflower which was steamed in the Varoma (hole in the middle so the steam can get through) 1.5L boiling water in the jug. Varoma setting for 20 mins stirring occasionally. Amazing! This served about 6 adult servings.

Rice was served with satay chicken. Will definitely be a regular alternative to rice for us.

Great recipe. I cook a similar quantity of rice in my rice cooker at same time and mix the two together. I add a couple of minutes to cooking time and steam some vegetables above the cauliflower rice in the Varoma. Works perfectly

  • Thank you! I did try to ring

    Submitted by Tanlouee on 6. April 2016 - 21:55.

Thank you! I did try to ring my Thermie advisor...but she didnt respond. It ended up working via the varoma and I'd put 1.5 litres as per the recipe and if id put the basket in it would have been pretty submerged so glad I just went with the varoma. THANKS SO MUCh though for responding.I was so tired from a bad night the night before and a very early start and stressful day. Wasn't able to think straight as even now it seems pretty simple and straight forward. :/

  • Hi! I'll try to rescue you

Submitted by Madame Thermomix on 6. April 2016 - 01:24.

Hi! I'll try to rescue you but your 1st call is always to your Thermomix Advisor. They are trained to help you and it's part of the service tmrc_emoticons.;-)

The internal steamer basket is just that: a basket that goes INSIDE the bowl. 900g of water just touches the bottom of the basket and will not boil your cauliflower. Adjust as you see fit; 500 g of water will steam for over 30 minutes.

The Varoma sits on top of the closed lid and requires more steam and a bit more time but it will steam your cauliflower too.

    I hope this helps!

  • OK I'm a newbie and exhausted

    Submitted by Tanlouee on 5. April 2016 - 19:09.

OK I'm a newbie and exhausted trying to cook (bad combination I know) just trying to make sense of whether I put the steaming basket inside the bowl to steam it or not as it seems there would be too much liquid and it would be boiling the cauliflower rice instead .... I've popped it on top of the bowl thinking that can be the only other thing to do but am unsure....sorry for being such a clutz....this is our first cauliflower rice dish. tmrc_emoticons.(Ok and now I've transferred it all to the large part of the varoma dish to see if that would work better. Pleeeeease if anyone is out there answer my plee....tired, hungry and needing to get my son to the doctors in 1 hours time. :/
