Ezy Sauce Tomato Chutney

Ezy Sauce Tomato Chutney

  • 1300 g tomatoes, halved
  • 300 g onions, peeled, quartered
  • 150 g apples, peeled, quartered
  • 230 g sugar
  • 50 g Ezy Sauce
  • 1 heaped teaspoon curry powder
  • 1 heaped teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground allspice
  • 2 tablespoons plain flour, rounded
  • 80 g cold water

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

  1. Place tomatoes, onions and apples into Closed lid. Blend 2 sec, speed 5. Can repeat for a less chunky chutney.

    Scrape down sides of Closed lid with spatula.

    Add all other ingredients except flour and water.

    Cook 70min, temp 105°C, Counter-clockwise operationspeed 1 with simmering basket on top.

    Make a slurry with the flour and water. With machine on 15min, temp 105°C, Counter-clockwise operation speed 1, slowly add the slurry and allow to finish cooking.

    Pour into sterilised jars. Place lids on and turn upside down to cool.

    Store in a cool dark place.

If you can't find allspice, just use mixed spice.

This is a lovely thick consistency chutney. Perfect for sandwiches and cheese platters.
