  • 40 g OilveOil
  • 40 g Butter
  • 120 g Balsamic Vinegar.
  • 100 g brown sugar

      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:

Recipe's preparation

    Onion and Sage Jam
  1. 1. Place oil and butter and melt 1m/100/Speed 1

     

    2. Add sliced onions and saute off 10min/VaromaCounter-clockwise operation/Speed2 with the MC on

     

    3. Add sugar and balsamic vinegar and cook 18min/VaromaCounter-clockwise operation/Speed 2 with MC removed, you can place simmering basket on top.

     

    4. Add Sage leaves and cook for a further 2min/VaromaCounter-clockwise operation/Speed2.

     

  2. Place in a sterilized jar.

Tip

This Jam is very versatile used to serve on a cheese platter, with steak,sausages or in a hamburger. Mix with cream cheese to make a french onion tasting dip, or even use as a topping on pizza.

    This recipe is great. We serve it with cheese & crackers, quiche, fritatas, goats feta tarts etc. We often get excess onions in our fruit & veg box so this is a great recipe for using them up.
