Recipe's preparation
1. Place tomatoes, capsicum, onion, garlic and basil in bowl 15 sec/speed 8.
2. Add remaining ingredients and cook with MC removed 50min/Varoma/Speed 2. Place the simmering basket on top of lid to prevent the sauce splattering everywhere, this will also allow the sauce to thicken.
3. If the sauce hasn't thickened do for an extra 10min/Varoma/Speed 2.
4. Blitz the sauce up 1min/Speed 9, don't forget to replace the MC!
5. Place sauce in hot sterilize jars.

Tip
Sauce can be kept in the fridge for three months.
This sauce can be sweet for some, so by all means half the sugar to 40g.
Basil: If you ever use all the leaves in a bunch for a differen't recipe, keep the stems and freeze them for when you make this sauce.( They will go dark in colour.)

Great sauce, the best pizza sauce I have made. Very easy to make, it’s sweet which my family likes but if you do not like too sweet just cut the amount of sugar a little. I used brown sugar.

Great recipe. Love that it is
Great recipe. Love that it is all fresh ingredients. It was too sweet for me with even the 40g of sugar so may reduce further. Also added some red wine which definitely increases the 'richness'.

Hi there
When you say...
"Sauce can be kept in the fridge for three months."
Do you mean, once it's in a sterilised jar or just after you've made it and placed it in an unsteriliesed jar?
Thanks :o)

Never again will I buy store
Never again will I buy store brought pizza sauce! I was in a hurry and had other stuff I needed to make in Thermi so brought pizza sauce, I couldnt eat it tasted so artificial. Ive used tinned tomatoes for this one as well plus added in other vegies.
I can never go back to store
I can never go back to store bought sauce after making this! I agree that it is a little too sweet so reduced the sugar the second time making it, but love the flavour. I also add two bunches of basil instead of one, simply because I love basil. Delicious!
Was a bit too sweet for my
Was a bit too sweet for my liking but with half the sugar I think it would be fab!
I made this recipe the other
I made this recipe the other night. I think 80g of sugar made it too sweet and although it was thick, it wasn't "rich" in taste. So I made it again and used 40g of sugar and 50g of white wine vinegar and 50g of balsamic vinegar. Once I did the final step of blitzing it, I added 2 bay leaves and cooked it for 5 min/100/reverse/ speed 1. Then I removed the bay leaves before decanting the sauce into ziplock bags for freezing.
