Bacon lentil and chive soup

  • 300 grams Celery, Chopped into 4-5
  • 200 grams carrot, Chopped into 4-5
  • 20 grams oil of choice
  • 4 slices short cut bacon, Roughly chopped
  • 1 onion, Halved
  • 2 cloves garlic, Peeled
  • 2 tablespoons TM chicken stock concentrate (see general tips)
  • 1000 grams water
  • 200 grams Red lentils rinsed
  • Fresh Chives to taste

      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:

Recipe's preparation

  1. Add carrot and celery

    chop, speed 5, 2 seconds

    Set aside

     

  2. Add onion, garlic and bacon. 

    Chop, speed 5, 3 seconds. 

    Scrape down. 

    Add oil and cook 3 minutes, varoma, reverse, speed 1

  3. Add remainder of ingredients (except chives) and cook 17 minutes, 90 degrees, reverse, speed 2. Or until lentils cooked. 

  4. Place in thermoserve, add chives and allow to rest for 15 minutes before serving.

Tip

Omitt bacon for veggie version.

Chicken stock concentrate from basic cook book or just use equivalent stock of your choice.

Serve with crusty bread like pizza bianca (as pictured)
