Lamb, lentil and tomato spiced soup

  • 400 grams tomatoes, halved
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 brown onion, halved
  • 400 grams Lamb, diced
  • 300 grams red lentils
  • 1 tbsp vegetable stock, (can replace with beef)
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • water

  • plain yoghurt
  • mint or coriander

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

  1. 1. Place tomatoes into mixing bowl. 4 sec/speed 4. Set aside.
  2. 2. Place garlic and onion into mixing bowl. 5 sec / speed 5. Scrape down sides of mixing bowl.
  3. 3. Add oil. Saute 1 minute/100 deg/speed 1.
  4. 4. Add tomatoes, lamb, lentils, stock, tomato paste, paprika, cumin, cayenne pepper, cinnamon and water. 60 min/90 deg/Counter-clockwise operation/speed 1.
  5. 5. Serve immediately. Garnish with plain yoghurt and mint or coriander.

Can replace fresh tomatoes with 1 can diced tomatoes.
