Ingredients
0 slice(s)
Slice
- 130 g plain flour
- 90 g rolled oats
- 65 g Desiccated Coconut
- 152 g Butter
- 120 g golden syrup
- 75 g brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon bicarb soda
Recipe's preparation
Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Grease and line a slice tin with baking paper - extending above the long sides slightly. My tin measures 17 x 28cm.
Add butter, golden syrup and sugar to the Tmx bowl and melt 100 degrees, 3 minutes, speed 1.
Add bicarb soda to melted butter mixture and combine speed 3, 5 seconds.
Add all other ingredients and mix together reverse, speed 2, 20 seconds.
Press into prepared tin and bake for 20 minutes until golden on the top and the edges are just coming away from the sides of the tin.
Let cool in the tin for 15 minutes and then lift out of the tin (use the baking paper to lift it out).
Cut into 10 bars, or 16 squares.

Well.. thank you! No more bought museli bars for my children's lunchboxes - this is a winner. Great as is but such a good base to add whatever to. Kids added choc chips the other day which I found a little sweet but was fun to try. I'll be adding cranberries/sultanas/apple etc.
So good, thank you.

Should it be 125g butter, as 152g seems like a strange amount? I might try it with less butter and see how it goes!
Very nice, thank you for the recipe!...
Very nice, thank you for the recipe!
I made it in a mistral ultra kitchen machine no problem. Subbed caster sugar for the brown sugar as I didn't have any, and it came out perfect, delicious while still warm too! Also turned up the oven being a conventional.

I like this better than Anzac biscuits! I sprinkled choc chips over and put back in oven for the last 10 mins, then spread over whilst it was still warm. A bit decadent but went down a treat

Nice and easy, 50g of sugar
Nice and easy, 50g of sugar is plenty. Could even reduce butter a bit I think
Beautiful and caramel-y After
Beautiful and caramel-y
After reading the commetns, I cut the sugar back to 50 grams, and it was still more than sweet enough. Make a beautiful slice, but mine wasa little crumbly, so perhaps I'll bake it a little longer next time.
Good recipe to have on hand
Good recipe to have on hand for lunchbox filler ideas. I reduced sugar to 50g and subbed rice malt for golden syrup (end result wasnt overly sweet.)
