For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

  5. Spread half of the mixture in to the base and paty up the side of the greased slice tin. Press down and smooth with the back of a metal spoon.
  6. Cover the base with the thinly sliced apples in one layer and cover with the lemon juice to stop the apple from browning.
  7. Crumble the remaining mixture of the apple to cover as much as possible - this will spread out a bit when cooking.
  8. Bake at 170ºC for 30 - 40 minutes or until golden and set.
  9. Cool slightly before cutting into 8 pieces. Can be eaten warm or cold and is delicious with cream, custard or vanilla ice cream.
