Beautiful tasting cake and very easy to make. My problem is the cooking time the middle with never cook properly and by the time it's cooked the edges are burnt and dry. What am I doing wrong? Should the butter be softened in step 1? Still tastes amazing and a favourite in this house.

OMG, this is the best Tea cake. I had been trying to find one like my nanna used to make and this is it. Even licking the spoon bought back memories! I added half a cup of sultanas to the batter.

Light, fluffy and delicious. I doubled recipe as suggested and cooked in a square cake tin. Cooked for about 35 minutes and it came out golden. I’ve just returned from shopping and heated a piece in the microwave for ten seconds, slapped on the butter and dusted with cinnamon sugar. Delicious.....I know I’m meant to be having tea but it goes awfully well with bubbles too! 😂😂😂

  • I liked the size of this

    Submitted by simonebb on 21. November 2015 - 13:21.

I liked the size of this recipe. It was enough for mini loaf tin and a great size to take for a girlfriends for afternoon tea. I found recipe a bit frustrating. I want gram measurements to save dishes when doing thermomix recipes so for those like me its

    100g sugar

    180 g self raising flour

    90g milk

This cake is exactly the same, love it. I doubled the recipe and cooked it in my 20cm spring form tin, thank you Trish B. for sharing  tmrc_emoticons.)
