Scones

  • 600 grams SR flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 tablespoon mixed spice
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon ground
  • 100 grams Butter Cubed
  • 50 grams sugar
  • 200 grams sultanas
  • 350 grams Milk

Crosses

  • 75 grams plain flour
  • water

Recipe's preparation

    Hot Cross Scones
  1. Preheat oven 220degrees. Line oven tray with baking paper. 

    Add flour, baking powder, mixed spice, cinnamon & butter into TM bowl. Speed 6, 6 seconds. 

    Add sugar, sultanas & milk. Speed 6, 6 seconds. Then 1 minute, dough kneading function. 

    Turn dough out onto a floured thermomat or board. Press mixture ou to about 2cm thickness & cut 7cm rounds with a cookie cutter or glass. Place rounds close together on the oven tray. 

     

  2. Crosses

    mix flour & water together in a small bowl to form a smooth paste. Spoon mixture into a piping bag & pipe crosses on top of scones. 

     

  3. Bake in the oven 15-20 mins Or until risen & golden. 

  4. Glaze

    heat apricot jam & 2tsp water in microwave for 30 secs. Brush glaze over buns when they come out of the oven.
