If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

  1. Place water, yeast and sugar into mixing bowl and heat 2mins 30 secs/37deg/speed 2.

  2. Add flour and salt and knead 3min. Transfer dough onto thermomat and lightly wrap or use a covered bowl and lplace in a warm spot to prove (approx 30 mins). Heat oven to 180 deg

  3. sprinkle some flour on top of dough and form a ball with your hands. Place onto lightly floured baking tray and gently press down with your hands to form a round disc (should nearly fill the tray and be about 3 - 4 cm thick). Leave to sit for 15 mins or so.

  4. Cut a criss cross pattern into the bread (this helps even rising and gives a guide for cutting or ripping! portions later.

Place in oven and cook at 180 deg for approx 30 mins or until evenly light brown on top and has a hollow sound when tapped.

  5. Turn bread out onto tea towels to cool (this will soften the crust a little) skip this if you like it really crusty.

Tip

This is a great base dough to shape how you want - try a plait or adding herbs/galic/cheese. Alter sugar to taste
