Recipe's preparation

    Dough - kneading
  1. Add flour first into tm bowl then add oil, boiling water, and salt.

Set timer for 2 minutes  Dough mode

    Remove dough to the thermomat

  2. The dough will resemble play dough in texture, that is correct, when it is cool enough to handle, divide the dough in half and then half again. Then split each 1/4 into 6 small round balls of dough. Roll out thinly into a circle using extra flour to prevent dough sticking. Repeat for each ball of dough. You should have 24 rotis.

At the same time warm up the frying pan/ crepe pan until medium hot, put the roti into pan and dry fry until cooked one side, flip and cook the other side. Continue until all 24 rotis are cooked.

Tip

When frying the roti's when they start bubbling one can put on top of the cooking roti a cooked one. This helps keep the roti flat against the fry pan.

These roti's freeze really well and I use them as wraps and fill them with cooked chicken, tm mayo and salad  to make yummy lunchtime alternatives to sandwiches for the kids.

Watch the video on how to roll & cook.

  • This is the only wrap recipe
    Submitted by eroberson on 12. June 2016 - 21:22.

This is the only wrap recipe I use, so when it was recommended that my kids go wheat-free, I was so sad as I thought I wouldn't be able to make these again (have previously tried it with gluten-free flour and it just didn't work). Decided to give it a go with spelt flour as they can have that and am very pleased to say it worked! Served it as wraps with roast lamb, spinach and gravy - my 7 year old asked for another one! Thanks for an awesome recipe!

Wow, great instruction and an extra thanks for thr video (like cuisinian.com)! Now me and my kids are planning to go together to the shop and then cook some roti for a great family lunch. Now we will never buy these somewhere, as I believe cooking some at home is going to be fun and will be our family tradition, as my kids really enjoy helping me in the kitchen!

  • I was hoping to find a recipe
Submitted by Twice as Nice on 16. August 2015 - 11:09.

I was hoping to find a recipe just like my mother in laws traditional one by hand saving me all the hard work of kneading hot dough. Unfortunately this recipe did not work for me and I ended up with a big sticky mess and more work having to hand knead in more flour to get the play dough texture. Taste was similar once cooked, next time I will add a lot more flour.

We love these wraps in our house! We make them on a regular basis and they always turn out perfectly! I would definitley recommend giving this recipe a go! We split our quarters into quarters again (rather than fifths) and end up with each dough ball weighing around 70 grams. I would rate as five stars again, but can only rate once...
