Apple and Custard Crumble

  • 5 granny smith apples, Peeled and diced
  • 1 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 50 grams raw sugar
  • 30 grams cornflour
  • 2 eggs
  • 500 grams low fat milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 100 grams blanched almonds
  • 100 gram rolled oats
  • 30 grams light margarine
  • 15 grams brown sugar

Recipe's preparation

    Apples
  1. Place peeled and diced apples in Varoma dish and sprinkle cinnamon over them. Add 500g boiling water to TM bowl. Cook on Varoma temp / 15 minutes / Speed 2

  2. Once cooked, divide apple evenly between 5 ramekins or place it in to one oven safe dish. Set aside.

  3. Custard
  4. Add raw sugar and cornflour to dry TM bowl. Pulverise 20 seconds / Speed 10

  5. Add eggs, milk and vanilla extract in with sugar and cornflour. Cook 90 degrees / 7 minutes / Speed 4.

  6. Pour cooked custard evenly over the apples in the 5 ramekins or over apples in baking dish and mix it through. Set apple/custard mix aside.

  7. Crumble Mix
  8. Add almonds and rolled oats to TM bowl and pulverise 15 seconds / Speed 10 or until oats and almonds completely crushed. Set aside

  9. Add margarine to TM bowl (no need to rinse) and melt on 60 degrees / 1 minute / Speed 2

  10. Add oats/almonds in with melted margarine, aswell as brown sugar. Mix until just combined Speed 4 / 30 seconds.

  11. Spoon even quantities of crumble mix over apples/custard in ramekins or over baking dish. Cook in oven at 180 degrees for 15 minutes or until crumble on top is crisp and golden.

Tip

You can use ramekins to make individual servings or to freeze leftovers and just pull out of the freezer to bake as a one off treat. Making it in one large dish is fine too.

    The apple and custard mix was beautiful but I thought there was not nearly enough crumble and it didn't actually cook properly so the crumble came out still wet-like.
