Print:
4

Ingredients

6 portion(s)

Thermie Le Rice

  • 100 grams short grain or arborio rice, - rinse & drain well before using
  • 750 grams Milk, - I used full cream
  • 370 grams cream, - I used thickened cream
  • 100 grams raw sugar, - to your taste, you can try less
  • 1 tsp vanilla essence
  • 4 portions frozen Mango Cheeks, - or frozen fruit of your choice
  • 3 tbsp cornflour, - I used White Wings 100% Corn Cornflour
5

Recipe's preparation

    Thermie Le Rice
  1. Mix the 3 Tbspns of Cornflour into 4 Tbspns of milk and set aside.

This will be used at the VERY END of the recipe.

  2. Sit the Simmering Basket on top of LID of TM31 and tare the scales.

Pour in 100 grams of Rice. Then take Simmering Basket with Rice in it and rinse under a cold water tap thoroughly - until water runs clear.

Take LID off TM31 and tip Rice in bowl.

  3. Now tare the TM31's scales back to 0

Pour in 750 grams of Milk

Tare the TM31's scales back to 0 again

Pour in 100 grams of Raw Sugar

Tare the TM31's scales back to 0 again

Pour in 370 grams of Cream

Add 1 tspn of Vanilla Essence

  4. Put your LID back on TM31 and cover opening with TM31's Measuring Cup

Now set your TM31 to 45 minutes, 90 degrees C, in Counter-clockwise operation reverse, SPEED 2

And let it cook now for 45 minutes.

  5. WIth about 10 minutes to go on the TM31, give your cornflour in milk another stir and set aside.

Get the 4 Mango Cheeks and dice into 1cm (roughly) pieces and  layer base of the bowl you intend to use with the Mango pieces.

  6. When the 45 minutes is over and Rice has stopped cooking, get the cornflour in milk and give it another good stir.

Remove Measuring Cup from LID. Set your TM31 to 40 seconds and turn on to Reverse Counter-clockwise operation SPEED 2 and start pouring in the Cornflour in Milk.

Remove LID when the 40 seconds have finished and now pour the Rice mixture ontop of Mango pieces and place in fridge to chill for at least 30 minuts. You can choose to eat it warm but I love it chilled.

Thank you for your rating. I've amended recipe for sugar to be 100g instead of 150g. And if you think it needs less sugar than that, then by all means put less in.  Big Smile

Keep smiling & bye for now!

My 2 boys love the yoplait le rice tubs and in order to reduce costs (and packet food consumption) I've tried a few other cream rice recipes with no luck of my boys eating it. This is a winner! Had to use a special bowl as a bit of a bribe to get them over the fact it wasn't in the normal tub but they soon gobbled it up after the first apprehensive spoon full.

    Thanks for sharing!

  • I've done it now with mixed

    Submitted by imteresa on 2. March 2013 - 11:19.

I've done it now with mixed berries too - YUM! Regarding sugar - definitely up to each individual as to how much sugar. I must admit, my last couple of batches, I've only put in 100g. The sweetness of the fruit compensates. Big Smile

Keep smiling & bye for now!

  • Super easy and tasted so good

    Submitted by Ebbiebecky on 15. January 2013 - 10:58.

Super easy and tasted so good on its own,  I served it with puréed mixed berries which was brilliant, the only other thing I did was reduced the amount of sugar by 50 grams
