Big hit, mince was tasty! Didn't have tomato paste so I used 100g Leggos Parma Sauce, I also added a zucchini for extra veggies plus sweet potato on top instead of potato for a healthier option. Thanks for sharing 👍🏼

    Hi there,

I guess the saltiness will depend on the levels in your gravy powder, stock, pastes and sauces etc.... I dont usually find this salty, but I guess everyone has different palates....perhaps use some salt reduced products next time or dont add any salt in the mashed potatoes?  Best of luck tweaking the recipe to suit your family tmrc_emoticons.)

This was very nice. I found it very salty but did not add any salt during the cooking process. Not sure what caused this. loved the mince cooked in the basket to keep the texture. Thanks for the recipe

Loved this! I added a Campbell's Beef Stock pot which gave a lovely beefy flavor. I didn't have oyster sauce but I added x2 celery sticks and added another carrot.

To save time, I boiled potatoes in a pot on the stove while thermo was cooking the filling. This saved the 25-30 mins required to steam the potatoes.

    Will make again.

I might alter it to use tomato paste instead of tomatoes, that should help with the consistency....as for the taste, glad you were able to alter it to suit your family..what herbs did you use?

This was really runny, so I thickened it up with some more gravy powder. Also, it was quite tasteless so I added some herbs, but once I had, the family loved it.

    Submitted by kerry691 on 4. November 2014 - 22:15.

Cornflour always works well, but perhaps you could try using 100g of tomato paste instead of the can of tomatoes....I tried this with a beef and red wine pie filling that I found too runny and it worked well....and I guess it is easier to add water to thin it rather than try to thicken it.....I might try it myself next time tmrc_emoticons.)

The pie was very tasty but I think varoma temp is too hot to cook it in. Part of the meat stuck to the bottom of my bowl leaving a big brown mark all around the rim. Was very hard to clean. Next time I will just use 100 degrees.
