  • 2 carrots
  • 1 zucchini
  • 50 g olive oil
  • frozen peas
  • frozen corn
  • 500 g chicken breast, cubed
  • 250 g water
  • 1 Tbs TM vegetable stock concentrate
  • 125 g cream
  • 3 Tbs cornflour

Recipe's preparation

  1. Place onion, carrots and zucchini into TM bowl.  Chop on speed 5 for 4 seconds. Add oil and cook on 100 degrees, speed 1, for 4 minutes. Add remaining ingredients.  Cook on Varoma temp, speed 1 for 20 minutes.   If sauce is too runny, add a little extra cornflour and cook on Varoma temp, speed 1 for another couple of minutes to thicken. Place pie filling into puff pastry lined pie dish.  Cover with another sheet of puff pastry and bake in 200 degree celsius oven for 20 minutes or until pastry has puffed and is browned.

Tip

Nothing goes down better than a hot pie on a cold night.  This mixture makes a lot - if there is too much filling for you, pop it in the freezer and take it out for another time.  Or make individual pies and freeze the ones you don't eat.  I didn't write down exact quantities, but anything goes with a pie...you can follow the basic method for any fillings really.  You might want to alter the amount of water/cream you add at the end depending on how much sauce you want your pie to have.

    I added a clove of garlic at step 1 plus some fresh herbs, reduced the water, increased the cornflour and added a bit of white wine. It made 1.5 pies.

    This was a hit in house, delicious. I followed other suggestions and used less water and a bit more cornflour and cream, (lactose free) and some dried thyme and marjoram. I did have burn marks on the bottom of my bowl as well and found that it was cooked before the 20mins. Will definitely make again but will lower temp and cook for less time.

    Absolutely delish! Fussy kids loved it, I used up all the ends of veg; carrots, parsnip, celery, mushroom and smoked chicken. To make dairy free I used Alpro cream (250ml) and only a splash of water. Cooked for 10 mins/100deg/sp1. Was superb!

    This is super tasty. However because I am dairy and gluten free, used coconut cream and used mashed potato. Used extra cornflour and extra chicken. Will definately make again. Hubby loved it.

    I made this for the first time and made some changes -
    * instead of onion, I used a leek
    * used only 50g water
    * used 200g cream
    * 5tbs cornflour
    * I used reverse when cooking the chicken so as to not shred the chicken

    My daughter has Coeliac disease so instead of pastry, I put chicken mixture into individual ramekins and topped with mashed potato, topped with cheese and baked for 20 mintues or until cheese was melted and browned.
    Absolutely a winner in our family, will definitely make again.

    I've made this a few times now and it's a hit with everyone. As other people have suggested I use 90g of water (rather than 250g) and 5 tblsp of cornflour for a thicker sauce. I don't bother with a bottom for the pie, just pop on some puff pastry on the top... Delicious!!

    Great pie. I followed the comments with more cream and less water and it turned out fab. I also added peas and corn to the bowl and cooked with the chicken. No issues with the bowl as per one of the comments. Have added this to my favorites list. Thanks for sharing 👍

    Made this delicious dish tonight and it completely nailed the bottom of my bowl! Looks like permanent scolding and even melted the base onto the bowl and I had to get a muscle man to force it off. The recipe should be adjusted from Varoma to 100 degs. Not happy and finding it hard to rate.

    Second time variations: cooked in reverse so the chicken was a bit more chunky. Added the frozen peas to the pie dish instead of cooking with the rest in machine. Left out the corn as none of us are fans! Used 150g cream and 50g water. I used chicken thighs and I think I preferred this to breast.

    Good one for making ahead of time. Thanks for a great easy recipe!

    Yum - made this tonight and omitted water and instead added 180ml zymil cream for lactose free son, 5 tblspns cornflour, handful diced sweet potato and 2 rashers bacon to the other ingredients. I made them as 6 individual pies in ramekins (to feed 6 adults) and did a puff pastry top and they looked and tasted delicious.

    Was very nice. I made a few changes. Added mushrooms and i small diced potato. 

    Also.. how much frozen peas and corn?? Recipe doesnt state. I used 1 cup frozen pea/corn mix. 

    Used about 200g cream and 40ml water and 4 tbs cornflour. Still a bit runny. But i made 1 big family pie and had enough to make 4 normal size pies in raminkins/pie dishes. Will definetly make again as can feed an army

    I used left over roast vegetables. Put into a pie dish lined with pastry then cooked other ingredients (no water) and added on top. Need to cook on reverse next time as the chicken turned to mush, but tasted great!

    After reading some of the reviews I added mushrooms, 180mls of cream, added extra cornflour, Dijon mustard and used a few different vegies. I had enough mixture for a family size pie and I gave my toddler some filling for dinner. 

    I will definitely make this again.

    Yum. Beautiful tasting pie. I made a few changes as per other reviewers. Added mushrooms, garlic cloves & some curry powder. left out the water. cooked for only 12mins in Thermomix before placing in pie base for the oven. Cooked for 40mins on 180c so pie was nice & brown. Will def make again.
