    Submitted by annejus on 25. August 2021 - 16:11.

    I use
    3 tsp curry powder
    500g mince
    1/2 cup rice
less water 500ml as less rice

    add
    knob ginger
2 garlic to the onion and first lot of veg.
    I then add 10 g sesame oil
and 20-30 g oil, stir with spatula and saute veg as in recipe. They don't stick as much to the base when using oil

I add 1-2 tbs oyster sauce at the end

so love this meal esp for when cooking meals ahead for camping

    Submitted by fmbillingsley on 31. March 2016 - 21:42.

This meal was delicious - I made a few alterations after reading other comments: used oil for sautéing veg; reduced water to 250g; omitted the packet of noodle soup and used veg stock paste instead; added rice noodles and some leftover cooked rice for added texture.  thank you for sharing this recipe.

It had great flavours but it was way too runny, will make again using 500ml of boiling water. I also added oil at the sautéing step.

Absolutely delicious! The more I ate, the better it got (I really had to stop myself!)

One thing to note - before it sits for 10 mins, it looks like there's too much liquid, but once it sits, the liquid is absorbed.  Definitely a keeper in this house!  Thanks for the recipe.

  • I love this receipe. However

    Submitted by KellWill on 4. April 2015 - 19:55.

I love this receipe. However I did change a few things.

    1. I didn't have cabbage and beans so I improvised by putting what I had - baby spinach and frozen peas and corn.

    2. After reading the other comments I didn't put as much liquid in. Instead of 1L I only put in 500mL and found this the perfect amount.

    3. I put my homemade stock in instead of boiling water.

    4. At the end of the 15 minutes cooking time I put a tablespoon on oyster sauce in it and cooked for a further 2 minutes with the measuring cup off to let a little more moisture to exit. I think next time I'll only do this for a minute.

    5. I put an extra teaspoon of curry powder in it. My husband and I liked the taste but it was too much for our daughter so maybe don't add too much curry if you have kids.

just made this - and was pleasently suprised that it came in at under 200 calories per serve (minus the chicken soup packet and including some EDC veggie stock)

Also happy that it made 6 portions, which means i can re-heat it again tomorrow night

    yum!

I found this burnt in the thermo tmrc_emoticons.(

I added a little rice bran oil in the first saute stage but I def think it must of needed more as I could smell it burning half way through cooking.

I didnt have the packet of soup but added veg stock concentrate and some tom paste but still think it was lacking a little something sorry.

    Submitted by Rachi on 30. April 2014 - 17:59.

    Great recipe!

I changed it slightly by increasing the curry powder and adding oyster sauce. I didn't have any beans so doubled the cabbage. I also used TMX stock because I didn't have any chicken soup mix.

    Whole family loved it!

Tried this tonight. Flavour was great but I might have put too much water in as it was very runny.  Will give it another go soon without as much water.

    Submitted by 2isey on 8. April 2013 - 19:08.

Made a few minor adjustments (500g mince, 150g cabbage, 1.5tsp curry powder & frozen peas instead of beans as didn't have beans) but this recipe is fantastic. It was delicious and my 1yo & 4yo ate it without complaints about the veggies and then asked for more! Definitely will be making this again.  tmrc_emoticons.)

tmrc_emoticons.) I think maybe a bit sweet for me and the kids - maybe next time, no capsicum, no carrot, more curry powder...looks good but I htink I put too much water in so it is a bit sticky...not bad for a first effort though. It tastes great, I know have a thermoserver, so have put it in a baking dish, and will serve from there..thanks for contributing to my meal time!!
