Tip

Extra Fun:

You can have chilli con carne with anything, so mix it up...have fun. Left overs are never the same as the last...serve with rice, make burritos, make nachos, make tacos, fill canniloni and top with salsa and cheese, topping with a steamed spud, do a mexican night with a spread of everything: salsa, guacamole, sour cream, cheese, chives, taco shells tortillas, carrot, lettuce, tomato, potatos, corn chips and margaritastmrc_emoticons.)

Enjoy, "staple for the family when im at a demo"

    Submitted by bjajun on 18. October 2015 - 18:56.

I should have read the comments first.  Thought 2 tblspn cayenne pepper was too much for us, so put in 1/2 tblspn.  Still way too hot, especially for kids.  Otherwise loved it.

  • Had a nice flavour BUT

    Submitted by simonebb on 17. January 2015 - 21:17.

Had a nice flavour BUT .......

for us it was way too spicy. I used half the suggested amount of cayenne pepper. Also mince was a little too broken down for me even on reverse soft speed. Didn't find it watery. Think prefer my oven version.

Delicious. In hubby's words, "best chilli ever". Much better than the recipe from the EDC. I also added a couple of tablespoons of vegetable stock paste at Step 5.  Will become a firm family favourite.

  • Absolutely delicious, easy

    Submitted by lucy76 on 9. June 2014 - 10:40.

Absolutely delicious, easy and quick. I added a few leftover veggies - a diced zucchini and two fresh tomatoes - and used cinnamon instead of coriander as I didn't have any in the pantry. The whole family loved it in burrito wraps.

  • Ive never experienced it

    Submitted by mishellakinsella on 6. June 2014 - 17:41.

Ive never experienced it being watery but if it is just cook on varoma for 5 more minutes with MC off.Ive made some developements recently, by adding 1 tbs cinnamon or 1 tbs of cacoa powder with spices. Then chop carrot, celery, zucchini, bell pepper sp5, 5 seconds (or you can hand grate and chop- who would do that?!?) then cooking 8 minutes, 100 deg, reverse, sp1 then follow with meat etc...

  • Made this tonight, and used 1

    Submitted by steph84sa on 9. May 2013 - 19:58.

Made this tonight, and used 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper and was too hot for us. Next time I would leave it out.  I had to leave the room a couple of times while cooking too, as the herbs and pepper was overpowering and making me cough.

Was a nice recipe otherwise  tmrc_emoticons.)

  • I didn't have any cayenne

    Submitted by goddessforlife on 17. February 2013 - 23:24.

I didn't have any cayenne pepper but the flavours with the cumin and coriander seeds. The whole family came back for seconds. Delish! Next time I might add a thickener of some sort to make gravy out of the liquidy juices.
