Amazing meal. I was worried my fussy kids were going to turn their noses up at this one. They scoffed it down, even with a full red chilli used. Will go onto the regular rotation. So easy to make. I steamed some veg in varoma whilst cooking rice below, then transferred all to thermo server. Whilst rice & veg cooking I prepped the meat and the few ingredients needed for the beef & also cleaned up. Cooked the beef & let it rest & sauce thickened in thermo server whilst I finished a quick kitchen clean up & we ate a delicious meal about 15 mins later. I call that a successful (almost) all in one dinner (and the clean up was done!!). Thanks for a fab recipe 😀

  • This was on our menu tonight
    Submitted by shell15june on 1. August 2016 - 23:22.

This was on our menu tonight and it will be one we will be making again.

i only added 1x garlic and it was yummy.

My husband isn't a fan of the meat being cooked in the thermo, so I cooked the meat in the frying pan and when the sauce had 1x minute left to cook I threw in the already cooked meat to mix in with the flavours.

    It was very delish!

Next time I'll add some more veggies - but tonight we just had meat and rice!

i found there probably could have been a tiny little bit more sauce for our likings but none the less it was a yummy meal!

I chopped the lemon grass in with the garlic and ginger, and then made the sauce as per the recipe which I used as marinade for some porterhouse steaks, which we cooked on the BBQ. Rave reviews from the family, it was delish!

i dont really understand how eveeryone is rating this meal so highly? It is really lacking in flavour. I kind of had the feeling it would be but ive been surprised by simple meals in the past. One good thing i have to say is it is really really easy, however i dont think it makes up for it. Sorry!

Very Tasty Beef! There was a bit too much liquid left afterwards, but we had it with a 'cauliflower fried rice' (cauli instead of rice); actual rice would probably have sokaed up the juice a bit better. The meat was very soft - not chewy, or undercooked!

    Submitted by Beanie59 on 21. September 2015 - 19:28.

Made this tonight and it was delish!!!  I only had about 500g of rump steak but worked out perfectly.  The meat was so very tender.  Lots of sauce left over, but why do you have rice - to soak up the sauce!!!  I added ginger, lemon grass, garlic and a long red chilli.  Not too hot.  Cooked for 7 minutes and it was perfect!!  I too have had trouble with meat tangling in the blades with this kind of recipe.  I cut my strips marginally larger this time and very little tangling.  Love it!

    Submitted by rowadam@bigpond.com on 29. April 2015 - 10:46.

Made this last night & it was a HUGE family hit - Mr 7, Miss 5 and Mr 3 all went back for seconds which makes this a BIG HIT!

I omitted chilli, used a small onion instead of lemongrass (blitzed with ginger and garlic in step 1) and I used a cheaper cut of meat (BLADE) which I cooked for 25 min.. and it was tender and delicious.

Thank you for a delicious recipe that will be on our dinner winner list!! Only downside.. no leftovers for lunch today  tmrc_emoticons.D

Best tmx recipe ever... Maybe a little too much ginger for my palate but I'm nitpicking.

My 7yo wanted me to say it was too spicy lol.. It wasnt . It was the perfect balance. Coming from him who eats 'ring burner' beef jerky without batting an eyelash!

the most tender beef I have had yet from any thermomix recipe. I do enjoy my meat medium rare though and can see why some people feel it may not be thoroughly cooked. If you like your meat tender and a little pink, follow this to a T! great flavour too.

  • It's annoying when you read
    Submitted by perthgirl on 6. January 2015 - 22:45.

It's annoying when you read mixed reviews - you don't know whether to risk trying the recipe or not. I had to make a few amendments to work with what I had.... Replaced ginger with half an onion, added a few stalks of (fresh) corriander to replace lemongrass, but I whizzed this in step one with the garlic, chili and onion. I only had blade steak (and only 497grams of it! :/ ). So I cooked it to the recipe, and..... IT WAS YUMO! Thanks for this recipe - quick and easy. I had a little extra liquid but that would be because I had a signifcantly less amount of meat.

This is so quick and easy and tastes great. I cooked my rice first and kept it hot in the thermo server and steamed some asian greens in the varoma while the meat was cooking. I only used half the quantity of meat which left lots of extra sauce for the rice! Will definitely be making again. Thanks for the recipe
