Tip

I weigh my patties to approx 115-120grams and use a Tupperware hamburger press to ensure they are all uniform and cook evenly.

Make your own breadcrumbs using left over ends of a loaf. I freeze my ends and whip up fresh breadcrumbs as the first step before I start the rest of the process tmrc_emoticons.)

Love, love, love this recipe! Made it many times now with no changes. My very fussy ASD teen has even had one the last time I cooked them and then wanted more, which is a first for homemade burgers. Thanks for the recipe!

  • Hi there!  It will depend on

    Submitted by Mumma_Ari on 7. November 2016 - 07:50.

    Hi there!

It will depend on whether you are using an electric frypan or a frypan on the stove top as to how much oil you will need to use. I generally just use enough spray oil to coat the base of my electric frypan on probably medium-high heat and with a stove top frypan, I would say about enough to have a depth of half a centimetre of oil covering the entire pan. You may need to top up oil as you cook different batches though.

As for knowing when it's cooked, there is a definite change in colour in the mince. They will not be pink at all in the middle when cooked through. I've never timed cooking them but I'd say 5 minutes in each side would be sufficient (assuming you haven't made them too thick). Maybe use the photo of the rissoles I cooked as a guide to what they look like on the outside when done?

I hope that was helpful. Happy cooking!

  • I need a bit more help

    Submitted by AussieArabian on 7. November 2016 - 03:16.

I need a bit more help please.

I've never cooked rissoles before. If I am to cook in a frypan; How much oil? What kind of oil? What temperature? Medium high? Medium? And how long for?

I found that once I'd added the sauces to the meat, the meat looked brown so I actually couldnt tell if it was cooked. It was also so soft and moist, I couldnt tell if it was cooked either!!

Thank you for your help - I really need it.  Can you tell why I bought a thermie?! I have no idea how to cook! ha ha

Like others suggested, I added carrot and zucchini as well as some sweet chilli sauce. I resisted making these without a thermoix because of all of the chopping and messy mixing but I can see I'll make them regularly. I make them very small so they are like bite sized lunch box snacks.
