Apologies to everyone who has
Apologies to everyone who has made this recipe and it was too runny... for a while now I have been meaning to change it but forgot and then when I did there was no clear way to edit it so gave up..... I have now just worked out how to edit the recipe and have done so to say to use 100mls of water, you could possibly get away with using up to 200mls but please use your own judgement and put 50mls in at a time to get it to the consisentcy that you like it - after all everyones tastes are different.
Sorry for some of the dinners I have ruined, I know how disheartening it can be sometimes to make something and it not turn out right.
Hopefully you will give it another chance x
My fussy son with food
My fussy son with food aversions loved this tonight! I added all the dying veg plus their stems and leaves to the dish at the start so it was all broken down by the end. I didn't add the meat until 10 minutes before the end, as thats how I always get lovely chunky mince instead of mush. I could see that 500ml water was way too much so used common sense and used about 1 MC full, put the lid on and cooked it all for 20 minutes then put the mince in for the last 10 minutes without the MC and with the basket on top. The mash had nothing but water and potato and was perfectly fluffy!
My remark is based on me
My remark is based on me comparing to amother thermomix recipe I used previously. this one was not as easy to follow, was too runny. I had to reduce water to 2 MC, add 1 Tbs of cornflour to thicken the sauce, it was still runny at the end.
i actually used 700g potatoes and it still wasn't enough.
Wasnt the best sheppard pie I've done sadly.
2 stars because it still tastes ok.
Still says 500ml. Please try
Still says 500ml. Please try the edit again. This was terrible. Wish I had read the reviews and not relied on the recipe. Dinner ruined sadly.
Was so good family love it,
Was so good family love it, will be making it again use 2 MCs of water

As others have said 500mls is way too much water. I made it with 150ml and it turned out great.
Apologies all! this seems too
Apologies all! this seems too much water and was a typo!! Try 150mls of water.... I will edit it now x
I can't believe I didn't read
I can't believe I didn't read the other reviews... I thought it was odd that there was 500mls of water in the recipe. I have never cooked with that much water and didn't think about it this time. It was way too runny. I am gonna to try 2 MC capfuls. Also my question to the person who posted this? is this how you have always cooked Shepherd's pie with 500mls of water?
too runny and the texture of
too runny and the texture of the mince cooked in the thermie is too fine. Much better to cook all mince dishes in the saucepan I think. Next time would not put in any water at all.
Another one who should've
Another one who should've read the comments first! Far too runny! Will be reducing the liquid next time
Very yummy I did the sauce
Very yummy
I did the sauce in the thermomix and only added two MC cup of water and cooked the mince in the frypan. I just mixed them together before I put it in the oven.
I made this tonight with a
I made this tonight with a few alterations. I left the veg quite chunky and added peas and celery. I used store mince and only added 2 mc of water. I omitted the stock but added a splash of red wine, rosemary, no bay leaves, whole meal flour and a tablespoon of gravox. I cooked a mashed the potato in a pan at the same time it took the meat to cook and whipped them with milk, butter ans a splash of truffle oil.
Deliciousness ++++
Tried it again with two MC
Tried it again with two MC (clear thermomix lid) of water and it turned out great!
Boyfriend said best shepherds pie he's ever had. Winner!
i wish id read this before
i wish id read this before making it !
def will reduce the amount of water next time
i hope my next meal is a bit better a this was my first meal
Thanks for all the feedback
Thanks for all the feedback on this one... I'm surprised it was so runny, did you put the flour in before the liquid? As that should thicken it up....
however if in doubt always use your instinct, the stock should just cover the mince...
I will make this again this week as per my instructions and report back what happens xx
maybe it should be 50ml of
maybe it should be 50ml of water?
Was not very impressed with
Was not very impressed with the texture of this dish. The meat was too fine & although I only added 200ml of water still was just too sloppy. Great flavour though but next time would only make the mash potatoe in the thermie and stovetop for the mince. Lots of grated cheese at the top makes for a yummy shepards pie.
Loved this, however even
Loved this, however even halving the water content resulted in it being too runny still!
I'm intending to make this again, however I'm going to steam up some veg and chuck in towards the end to give it some variation with the consistency!
I wish I had read the
I wish I had read the comments before makig the recipe - too much of a rush.
Has great taste but yes - too much liquid.
Will try again but adjust liquid quantity.

Thanks Made this tonight with
Thanks Made this tonight with variation - to added GArlic and cooked potatoe in the Varomo on top to save time whilst mince was cooking then mashed after all cooked. thanks!
Just watch the water content
Just watch the water content in this recipe I think it might be a misprint as it comes out like soup.
Cheers
Christine
Way too runny will use half
Way too runny will use half the liquid next time and increase a little of the meat 500g I think maybe 700g would have been better
but in saying that it was quiet yummy just need to tweek it a little !
Was very yummy but way
Was very yummy
but way too much liquid, will need to use 1/2 the amount of water next time.
i also added in a bit of curry powder for a bit more flavour.
Was certainly Yummy! it had
Was certainly Yummy! it had great flavour.
A couple of things to consider:
Took 1.5 hrs (0.5 to cook mince mixture, 0.5 to cook potato and 0.5 in oven)
I used store bought lamb mince - the lamb mixture was very wet - way too much liquid, so next time I'm going to either use half the amount of water, OR my consultant said to try cooking the mince in the basket instead (something about keeping its own moisture).
