  • 800 g diced canned tomatoes
  • 185 g canned tuna in oil

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

  1. Place onion and garlic in bowl, chop for 4 seconds, 5 speed. Scrape down the bowl

  2. Add oil, herbs and tomato paste. Saute for 5 minutes, 120C, 1 speed

  3. Add tomatoes and stock. Cook for 15 minutes, 100C, 1 speed Counter-clockwise operation 

  4. Add drained tuna and cook for 5 minutes, 100C, 1 speed Counter-clockwise operation

  5. Serve with short pasta such as shells or spirals

    My husband really enjoyed this sauce.  I wasn't so keen because all I could really taste was the canned tomatoes.  I'll try this again with some substituions as suggested above.

    Used this recipe as the base. Used fresh cherry tomatoes and tinned, added a tin of kidney beans and a small amount of ground chillies. Really yummy. Thanks for posting such an easy "out of the pantry" suggestion.
