Hearty and delicious lentils

  • 2 clove garlic, roughly chopped
  • 1 onion, roughly choped
  • 40g olive oil
  • 3 carrots (Medium), roughly chopped
  • 1 can crushed tomatoes
  • 100g Passata
  • 1000g water
  • 150g French style lentils
  • 150g Red or Green lentils
  • 6-8 shakes of Harissa Spice, Masterfoods Middle Eastern Spice Blend
  • 5-6 shakes of Celery Salt, Masterfoods
  • 2 tablespoon TM veg stock
  • Worcestershire sauce to taste
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 large bayleaf

      Please note that the TM5 mixing bowl has a larger capacity than the TM31 (capacity of 2.2 liters instead of 2.0 liters for TM 31). Recipes for the Thermomix TM5 may not be cooked with a Thermomix TM31 for safety reasons without adjusting the quantities. Risk of scalding by spraying of hot liquids: Do not exceed the maximum filling quantity and observe the filling level markings of the mixing bowl!

  1. 1. Place garlic and onion in TM bowl, sp7, 4 sec
    2. Scrape down bowl
    3. Add Olive Oil and Sautee, 100d/sp, 4 min
    4. Add carrots, sp7, 4 sec
    5. Scrape down bowl
    6. Add, lentils, crushed tomatoes, passata, bay leaf, spices, stock & water to the TM bowl. Cook at 90d for 60min,
    7. Check half way and add salt and pepper to taste at this point
    8. When finished, pour into Thermoserver
    9. When serving, add Worcestershire to taste at the table (about 4 drops should be enough per serving)
    10. Enjoy!
