      TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

  1. Rinse then drain the chickpeas. Add them to the Thermomix bowl. Put on lid and MC and blitz for 5 seconds on Speed 4.
  2. Add rolled oats to the bowl. Put on lid and MC and blitz for 10 seconds on Speed 4. Scrape down the sides of the bowl. Then blitz again for 10 seconds on Speed 5.
  3. Add both cloves of garlic, the lemon juice and salt. Put on lid (no MC) and start blitzing on Speed 5 while you add the olive oil through the lid. Blitz for about 60-seconds in total until you have a nice dough.
  4. Tip the mix onto a sheet of baking paper the size of the baking tray you plan to use. Place a second sheet of baking paper on top and then roll out the dough to approx. 5mm thick between the two sheets.
  5. Transfer to an oven tray. Remove the top layer of baking paper. Score the crackers into rectangles using a knife. Use a fork to prick each cracker a couple of times. Then bake at 180 degrees celsius for approx. 50 - 60 minutes or until golden and crispy.
  6. Leave them to cool. Then break into pieces.

Tip

These crackers are delicious - my kids love them too. Super quick and easy to make. Serve them with cheese, dips or as a lunchbox snack on their own. They are wheat-free but not gluten-free (on account of the oats). Store them in an air tight container when cool. They should last a while but they never do in my house as they get eaten fast!
