  • 190 g dark chocolate
  • 4 tsp instant coffee
  • 140 g water
  • 110 g Self Raising Flour
  • 110 g plain flour
  • 40 g cocoa powder
  • 5 g bicarbonate soda
  • 420 g caster sugar
  • 3 eggs
  • 70 g vegetable oil
  • 95 g buttermilk

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

    Method
  1. Preheat the oven to 160 degrees

    Grease & line your cake tin

    Add butter, chocolate, coffee & water into TM bowl and melt for 3 mins / 90 degrees / speed 2

    Add flours, cocoa & bicarb and sugar & combine for 10 secs / speed 3

    Add eggs, oil & buttermilk & combine for 15 secs / speed 3

    Make sure it is well combined otherwise mix for a further 10 secs / speed 3

    Pour mixture into tin & bake for 1 hour 40 mins

    Remove from the oven but leave in the tin until completely cooled

Tip

You don't need any icing with this cake - if you want you can dust with icing sugar.

It's not a very sweet cake, but it's really moist & delicious
