These work really well. They have the look and texture of a scone, a bit drier but taste good.
The dough is very wet, so you can't use a cutter which gives a really rustic look. I beat the egg in a bowl before adding and was able to use the residue to glaze the top of my scones before baking. These are a great GF alternative, I'll be making them again. Thanks!

Submitted by Carol Millington on 20. June 2017 - 16:09.

These are the most delicious Gluten Free Scones. In fact I would go so far as to say they are best GF scones ever - they didn't crumble - am sure they could pass for 'regular' scones. I am definitely just making this batch instead of 2 batches (1 regular and 1 GF) when visitors call - they wouldn't know they were Gluten Free. Thank you for such a great recipe.

Lovely recipe. I added dates after Step 4 and blinded them for 3 secs on speed 5.  Was a winner with the oldies.

  •   I'm having trouble

    Submitted by letstryit on 25. July 2015 - 19:09.

I'm having trouble formating a photo of these delicious scones, but you'll get the idea!

I made these scones today as the cold, miserable weather needed as tasty distraction! My coeliac wife was so impressed with the crunchy top, light texture and lovely flavour. Even better was enjoying them with TM lemon curd and cream. I followed thes recipe exactly except used the TM spatula dipped into milk to "square up" the dollops of dough the ice cream scoop produced.

This is a wonderful recipe that I will share with my thermobuddies.

    Thanks for posting,

    John

  • Excellent, simple and tasty

    Submitted by GJOESQ on 27. June 2015 - 19:54.

Excellent, simple and tasty recipe.  I ended up using 300g of flour and that worked OK with 130 g of milk.  25g of rapadura sugar was adequate and I recommed a heaped teaspoon of baking powder.  Milk for glazing is perfectly OK.  I used two spoons to dole out the mixture and throughly enjoying licking everything 'clean' afterwards!!  tmrc_emoticons.-)

  • This is the best GF scone

    Submitted by Ronip on 1. February 2015 - 12:53.

This is the best GF scone recipe I have tried..... Have tried a few.

Mix was thick though, which it needs to be as the mix does spread in the oven a little.

    very happy!![ Cooking 7

  • I made this with my own GF

    Submitted by JMRainbow on 15. June 2014 - 15:56.

I made this with my own GF flour (home made). I reduced the milk about to 90grams as the egg I used was huge (free range, organic). Turned out very niceley. I use milk on top of the scones instead of egg and this too worked well.

Thanks for sharing a great recipe!

  • I made this recipe today and

Submitted by Helen Ashley on 26. May 2013 - 19:15.

I made this recipe today and the mixture resembled a pancake batter.  I put more flour in it to firm it up, but it was still a little on the runny side.  I scooped it out onto the baking sheet but  it spread a bit. The scones came out looking more like damper and under cooked, so I cooked them for about 5 minutes longer. They tasted quite nice, but the texture was more like a biscuit and they were on the dry side for scones.  Overall really disappointing...but I wouldn't rule out me having done something wrong!
