Kirls & Mietta's Fish Pie

  • 1 kg white fish fillets
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 onion quartered
  • 30 grams Butter
  • 300 grams water
  • 200 grams milk, warmed, you can change milk/water ratios to taste
  • 2 tbsp TMX veggie stock concentrate
  • 60 grams plain/corn flour
  • 2-3 large potatoes cut in 1cm cubes

      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:

Recipe's preparation

  1.  

    Place garlic and onions and butter into TM bowl and chop for 3 seconds on speed 6.

    Saute for 2 minutes at 100C on speed 1 with MC off

    Add remaining ingredients except flour into bowl

    Place potatoes into steamer basket and place basket into bowl

    Place Varoma dish with layered fish fillets and cook for about 20-25 minutes (or until potatoes and fish are cooked) on speed 2 Varoma temp.

    Pre-heat oven at 180

    Remove Varoma, add flour into the sauce and cook for 4 minutes at 90C on speed 4.

    Flake fish. Place into an oven dish and add the sauce. Gently mix to combine.

    Tip potato into TMX bowl and mash for 20-30 seconds on Spd 3-4, with seasoning if desired

    Cover fish mix with mashed spud, bake in the oven for 20 minutes or until browned on top.

Tip

Serve with green veggies, which you can steam, with sliced carrots, for 15mins at Varoma, Spd 2, while the pie is in the oven
