I put in less water, cooked for an hour, adding sweet potatoe and potatoes 20 mins before the end....mine must have been too big chunks, or maybe because I used less water the veggies were undercooked!

I realised only as I went to add the tinned tomatoes that I had none so I roughly chopped 2 fresh ones and added about a tblspn of tomato paste, was still delicious!!! Also, I used gluten-free flour which was no issue. Will definitely make again!!

So easy and yummy. I served ours with Polenta to cut out so much potato. Worked a treat. Meat came out very tender and great sized servings. Lots to put in the freezer.

  • This has a delicious flavour

    Submitted by hellie on 20. December 2015 - 14:42.

This has a delicious flavour - the balsamic sauce really made it (I used a very good quality sauce which I think made a difference). I only had white spud, so used that instead and I used tapioca flour (20gms). The water was the perfect amount for me and made a nice thick sauce. Will use this for a pie filling next time

Love this dish.! I usually add steamed veggies when serving to make it a bit healthier for my toddler. I agree that 200g water isn't necessary but it depends on your preference for how thick the sauce is.

    Submitted by Mjandslater on 8. December 2013 - 22:24.

Loved it! I used pumpkin instead of sweet potato because that's all I had and I put the pumpkin in early so that it mushed down and made a thicker stew! But my mum doesn't even like these sorts of meals but she even loved it! tmrc_emoticons.)

  • This dish was so delicious.

    Submitted by button84 on 12. October 2013 - 09:45.

This dish was so delicious. I've seen other recipes that have included bacon but I really don't think this was needed in this dish. This would be a great one for winter as a pie filling. Absolutely divine.

I also cooked mine for the full 60 minutes and the meat was perfect. I'll probably use a little less sweet potato next time as there was a bit too much in there.
