Cold Kickin' Chicken

Cold Kickin' Chicken

  • 1 Whole chicken
  • 8 sprig rosemary
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp paprika
  • 4 clove garlic, Crushed
  • 1 lemon
  • Salt and pepper


  • 2 carrot
  • 1 zucchini
  • 100 g peas
  • Other vegetables, To fill simmering basket


  • 1 l water
  • 1 tbsp vegetable stock, from Basic Cookbook
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar, with the mother

Recipe's preparation

  1. Place 1L of water in TM bowl and add 1 tbsp stock and 1 tbsp Apple Cider vinegar.
  2. Vegetables
  3. Cut enough vegetables to fill simmering basket. Place simmering basket in TM bowl.
  4. Cold Kickin' Chicken
  5. Put whole lemon in chicken cavity.
  6. Place chicken in varoma tray.
  7. Sprinkle chicken with paprika, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper, rosemary and crushed garlic.
  8. Place lid on Mixing Bowl, and place Varoma on top. Cook 70 mins, Varoma, Speed 1.
  9. Serve chicken and vegetables either dry or in broth.

Check to see chicken is cooked prior to carving.

Some green vegetables can become overcooked using this method - it depends on your preference as to whether you include things like peas in the simmering basket or not.
