      TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

    San choi bau
  1. Put in garlic, onion, carrots, and celery stick chop speed 5/10 sec (short if you like more chunky, longer if you like finer).

Put in oil, cook at 100c for 2-3 min speed 2.

Add in mince and cook for a further 6-7min reverse speed 1 at 100c. Place steam basket instead of measuring cup.

Add oyster sauce, sweet soy and soy sauce. Mix on reverse speed 2.

For my kids I serve it with rice. I offer lettuce seperate.

my hubby and I eat it in the lettuce cup.

Not bad. The instructions need to be a bit clearer. I had never made San Choi Bau so can't comment too much on taste. It tasted ok. Not sure if I would make again though

Toddler loved it.  Don't know whether we will have it again in rotation but it was definitely an easy  meal.

My kids screwed their noses up at first, then ate it and couldn't get enough! Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou for the recipe.  I just added the amount of oil as per what I would for stir frying.

  • A cheap and easy recipe. One

A cheap and easy recipe. One small hitch, the meat needed to be broken up, possibly should reproduce the recipe to allow for this. Otherwise it was a hit in our household of 7, so not always easy to please the crowd. Thank you

  • Good taste. Meat took longer

    Submitted by jp15 on 28. December 2015 - 21:42.

Good taste. Meat took longer than 7 mins to cook and also needed breaking up halfway through. Recipe says to add oil, but doesn't give an amount. Water chestnuts or bean sprouts might be a crunchy addition next time I make it. Thanks for sharing.

Brilliant. Quick, easy and extremely yummo. Do it.

I doubled it - once mince was added took about 12mins to cook. Served rice on lettuce leaf with mince mixture on top. Definitely a keeper.

    Thanks for sharing.
