Recipe's preparation

    Method
  1. Add carrots to bowl and chop 3 - 4 seconds / Speed 4
    Set aside.

  2. Cut 6 bacon rashes of bacon in halves, add to bowl and chop

    3 seconds / Speed 4
    Set aside.

  3. Add onion, garlic and shallots to bowl and chop 2 seconds / Speed 6

  4. Add chopped bacon and sautee for 2 minutes / Varoma / Speed 1
(No need to add oil as there is enough fat from the bacon)

Once sauteed, tip into a Thermoserver.

  5. Don't clean the TM bowl.

Place 400g rice into TM basket and rinse until water runs clear.

Add 900g water to the bowl.
    Insert TM basket with rice.

  6. Place chopped carrot in the Varoma dish.
Put the Varoma tray in place, then take a large sheet of baking paper, dampen with water, scrunch it up, then spread it out over the Varoma tray.
Pour whisked eggs onto the baking paper (on the Varoma tray)

Cook rice, carrots and omelette 13 mins / Varoma / Speed 3

  7. While the rice is cooking, measure ingredients for the Soy Sauce mixture into a small jug and combine.

    Set aside.

  8. When the timer has finished, add Chinese cabbage to the Varoma dish and cook for a further 3 minutes / Varoma / Speed 3

  9. Slice omelette into fine strips

  10. Tip rice into Thermoserver and mix in with existing bacon mixture.
Add steamed carrots and cabbage, half the sliced omelette and the Soy Sauce mixture.

  11. To plate up, serve Nasi Goreng onto serving platers.
    Top with remaining sliced omelette.
    Sprinkle with fried onions.
    Serve with finely sliced chiilies.

Didn't live up to my expectations.

I've a TM5 and added a little more water as I wasn't sure with bigger bowl if I should. I've also only had my Thermie a month. I found this recipe harder to cook in thermie than on stove. My rice was cooked alright, the carrots and cabbage needed 3 minutes longer and the eggs didn't cook. I was also disappointed with the flavour (not strong enough for me) but it was okay I just wouldn't be in a rush to make again.

Can you please notify if we were to put seafood and tofu in the recipe, where, when and how long, speed etc??? I want to try and make one that you can take away from "Noodle Paradise". If anyone could assist, it would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

  • Maybe I did something wrong

Maybe I did something wrong (although I followed the recipe) - it tasted like rice with a few Asian sauces through it. Bacon needs to be fried not sautéed ( it seemed soggy and wet) and didn't taste like authentic balinese nasi goreng at all tmrc_emoticons.-( disappointed
