Dad's Tomato Relish

  • 800 g tomatoes, Halved
  • 1 Spanish onion, Halved
  • 3 Red Apples, Halved & Cored
  • 150 g raw sugar
  • 100 g sultanas
  • 150 g white vinegar
  • 200 g water
  • 1 tsp all spice
  • 2 cloves
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

    I make this for my Dad's Birthday every year with the influx of tomatoes from my Pa's garden in Summer
  1. Place Onion & Apples into mixing bowl & chop 5 sec/speed 7.

  2. Add tomatoes & 2sec/turbo 5 times.

  3. Add remaining ingredients & mix 3 sec/Counter-clockwise operationspeed 4.

  4. Place simmering basket instead of measuring cup onto mixing bowl lid. Cook 30 min/100°C/Counter-clockwise operationGentle stir setting.

  5. Place into sterilised jars, close jars once relish has cooled.

    There might be something wrong with the time for cooking on this recipe it was far too runny based on other recipes I cooked for a further 20mins @ 100 Veroma speed 2 to get a better concistacy. It was much better then. This might explain the low rating 😉
