Rich Tomato Sauce

  • 1000 grams tomatoes, Ripe, quartered
  • 3 brown onion, Medium, halved
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 650 grams tomato passata
  • 4 cubes Parmesan cheese
  • 125 grams red wine
  • 1 fresh red chilli, Mild, de-seeded
  • 1 teaspoons balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoons sugar raw
  • 1 sprigs fresh basil
  • 1 sprigs fresh marjoram
  • 1 sprigs fresh oregano

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

  1. . Place oil,onions,garlic and chilli into bowl and chop 10 sec, speed 5
    . Saute, 7mins, 100deg speed 2
    . Add tomatoes, cook 5mins, 100deg speed 2
    . Add passata, basil, marjoram, oregano,red wine, sugar and balsamic vinegar to bowl, stir, 20sec, speed 2
    . Cook 20mins, 120deg speed 2
    . Allow to cool gradually in thermoserver with lid on. Using ladle, spoon sauce into freezable containers, add a piece of Parmesan cheese to each container (this prevents the sauce from becoming runny.
