Tip

Depending on how plump and juicy your tomatoes are you may require a little more cornflour - if so, mix a little cornflour with a little water and cook for another 10 mins.

Great on sandwiches and wraps.

Depending on individual tastes reduce the sugar or replace some with dates or sultanas.  Add some chilli for some kick.

I know everyone loves this recipe but I found it a bit boring. Not as spicy as my usual. Ok with cheese on crackers but not outstanding. Cut down liquid and added less sugar as others had stated. Definitely needed more cornflour to thicken.

    Submitted by Thermomarky on 30. September 2017 - 10:20.

My father owns a fruit and veg farm and tomatoes were in abundance so thought I would give this a go and use up some of the Tomatoes.. We used the ripest of the tomatoes and stuck to the recipe (only using Keens Curry instead).. I did find it was a little runny (used extra cornflour as previously posted) and a little too sweet but then others said it was spot on so it comes down to personal taste Big Smile Other then maybe reducing the sugar just a little it was amazing!! Thank you for providing such an adjustable recipe Smile going to make my second batch now.. cheers ***** (5 stars)

nicole.foster: you'll find this is from the spices - not the tomatoes! Turmeric usually does it. It does fade and doesn't affect your Thermie. 🙂

Loved the recipe, everything went well. Tastes very good... one thing that did happen was my thermomix lid got very badly stained with a green/yellow colour I'm supposing it's the acid from the tomatoes. I was wondering if anyone had this issue or with a different recipe and can suggest a way to remove these stains? Would love to hear...

    Submitted by 1002FH on 8. March 2016 - 08:15.

Beautiful relish, I had to add 2 more tablespoons of cornflour to it as well. Learnt the hard way that you have to mix the cornflour with water and make a paste before adding it to a hot mixture - was very lumpy!!  Managed to get most of the bigger lumps out though and still tastes delicious.  Will be making again tmrc_emoticons.D Thanks for the recipe!

  • I Made this tonight because I

    Submitted by Tasmum on 7. March 2016 - 21:45.

I Made this tonight because I had an abundance of cherry tomatoes and big red tomatoes. I used slightly less sugar and did a mix of brown and raw. I used less vinegar because of the high volume of liquid in my cherry tomatoes but I still needed to add a little extra corn flour because it still was very runny. It tastes delicious, the husband found it a bit sweet so I would further reduce the sugar next time.
