Warm & Spicy Black Bean Dip

Ingredients

1 litre(s)

Warm & Spicy Black Bean Dip

  • 1/2 small red onion, peeled and halved
  • 2 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 1 can Black Beans, drained & rinsed
  • 140 grams Salsa, (mild, medium or hot)
  • 100 grams Grated Cheddar Cheese
  • 50 grams single cream
  • 20 grams Butter
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 heaped tsp pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp chilli powder, (use 1tsp if you like it spicy)
  • 5 grams fresh coriander, chopped

Recipe's preparation

    Directions:
  1. 1. Drop garlic onto running blades SPEED 8 until minced.

    2. Add onion onto running blades SPEED 6 until finely chopped.

    3. Scrape down the sides of the TM bowl and add the butter to the onion and garlic and saute 3 MINS / VAROMA / Counter-clockwise operation / SPEED 1.

    4. Add the black beans, salt, pepper, cumin and chilli powder to the TM bowl (ensuring spices are not piled onto the top notch of the blades) and cook for 5 MINS / 60 DEGREES / Gentle stir setting.

    5. Add the salsa, cheese and cream to the TM bowl and mix 15 SECS / SPEED 1.

    6. Blend 20 SECS / SPEED 4 or until desired consistency is reached.

    7. Add the coriander 10 SECS / SPEED 2.

    8. Serve warm with tortilla chips or use as a filling for Nachos! 

    DELICIOUS!!

  • I used 1x tin edgell black

    I used 1x tin edgell black beans and found the dip to be a little strong in cumin and not quite balanced.  I ended up adding 100g cream cheese and blending it to a smoother consistency.  I think this recipe is a good launching point for those after a black bean dip but it may need to be altered here and there based on personal tastes.

    Totally amazing! It didnt specify size of can for the black beans So I used 2 x 400g LaConstena black beans. Found in the mexican aisle in your supermarket! 

    so ridiculously AMAZING!

    I didn't like it - It was far too Garlicky, but ultimately even if i cut the garlic back I don't think I would make it again. I'm sorry but I want to be honest. Maybe it was just my palate.
