    Submitted by HJT on 19. July 2016 - 20:04.

This was easy, swift and yummy. Admittedly I changed it up a wee bit. I omitted the garlic but added 1/2 an onion (brown) which I cooked at Varoma temp for 5 mins after it was chopped. I also doubled the chicken so added 30 secs to the original cook time. I then deleted 100mls of the water from the recipe for a thicker outcome.  Really enjoyed this with a garnish of flat leaf parsley.

I added an extra can creamed corn 420g, chopped a small onion with the garlic at the start & added an extra 250g water and ended up with a gorgeous thick soup that everyone loved. Thanks for sharing :)

  • This soup was beautiful !!

    Submitted by leekane78 on 18. June 2015 - 12:33.

This soup was beautiful !! The whole family loved it . I did as others suggested and doubled the recipe. I also put 1 onion halfed , a handful of black peppercorns and 1 tbsp of crushed ginger into the steaming basket and let those flavours infuse whilst The soup was cooking. I whisked up 2 egg whites only ,  with a little water and added them at the end rather than a the whole egg . Another tip if you need to make a big batch is don't add your chicken whilst the soup is cooking, this leaves more room in the jug which I had filled to the 2 lt mark . i had steamed and shredded a heap of chicken before starting the soup , I then just poured the soup into a large storage container covering all the chicken , made a huge hearty batch .  Tasted better than our local chinese take away

Made this last night for dinner - absolutely beautiful soup! So easy to make and tasted just like the soup from our local Chinese restaurant. I will try to make again using less garlic (I went a bit heavy handed oops!) and some ginger and spring onions.

Thanks so much for sharing. This is one of my fave soups!

    Submitted by montgkat on 20. April 2015 - 17:41.

Very delicious! I added a 1/4 of an onion with the garlic and sauteed it for an extra minute. I cooked the chicken for 7minutes in total then added an extra 5minutes when adding in the cornflour and egg. I did put 2 chicken thighs in, however i believe i probably needed about 4 to make enough for more than 2 small serves for lunch. :)
