Creamed Rice

Ingredients

6 portion(s)

  • 1000 grams full cream or hi-lo milk
  • 60 grams sugar
  • 180 grams arborio or medium grain rice
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract (or paste)
  • 1 pinch salt

Recipe's preparation

  1. Place all ingredients in TM Bowl.  Cook at 90 degrees, 50 minutes Counter-clockwise operation, speed 1

  2. Yummy creamed rice!

Tip

Creamed rice will thicken on standing.  

Either  serve warm or chilled.  You can add cinnamon, or other flavourings of your choice.

    When I can get 1lt of milk on clearance for .49c this is my go to desert recipe.
    My family like it cold so I reduce the rice to 150g as it sets very firm.
    Delicious.

    Have been making creamed rice on stovetop for 30 years - always ever watchful that it didn't burn on the bottom of the saucepan. Today tried this recipe in the Thermomix and am absolutely delighted with the result. Amazing recipe. No adjustments required. Stress free. A real keeper.

    This Recipe is amazing makes absolutely perfect rice pudding!! I was going to warm the milk, sugar & vanilla paste up first before adding the rice but got distracted by kiddies and put the rice in as well and it still turned out excellent didn’t go glugy around the blades!! 👍🏼😃👍🏼

  • HOT TIP!!! Heat the milk,

    HOT TIP!!!

    Heat the milk, sugar, vanilla and salt first.  THEN....slowly add the rice through the top while the machine is running.  After having a "clumping" problem around the blades when the rice is cooked, I tried this method and no more clumping.

    as I am lactose intolerant I used 250ml Lactose Free Cream, 250ml  Bonsoy and 500mls water. DELICIOUS!

    have made this numerous times a staple and go to receipe in our household. It can be made with milk. coconut milk, almond milk all taste delicious, have added cream sometimes again delicious. Have added various spices cinnamon, nutmeg, mixed spice all great, am thinking may try a chilli chocolate version

    I like my creamed rice cold and this thickened a little too much for my taste. Flavour was lovely however and so so easy to make. Edit: 140g of rice was perfect.
