My go to beef casserole. I cook for at least half an hour longer so meat is super tender. I never add more than 1 tablespoon of curry powder- did that once and it was truly awful! Don't know what kind of curry powder was being used but it wasn't Keens! I also add carrots, capsicum, celery, beans- whatever I have. I like coconut cream instead of ordinary cream. A great winter warming recipe.
So so delicious every time!!

Yes you do but from memory I do recall taking it off the last half hour because there was too much liquid. Because in this Thermomix recipe the meat is put in raw it can release some juices. When you seal the meat first those juices are usually kept in a little more. I do recommend browning the meat in one piece first in a frypan before cutting. However the curry is nice anyway regardless. As I said I did mine in the oven yesterday and it was just to die for. All the best JAnza.

I have been making this for years. My favourite curry. I now make a larger amout slow cooked in the oven. I make the sauce in the TM and pour onto browned meat. It is very easy to brown chuck steak as a whole piece. You can brown well , turn over once and cut up once browned. Much better that using raw unsealed meat. A fantastic meal.

Loved this. Made it tonight, added a can of coconut cream instead of cream, used gravy beef instead of chuck, crushed ginger instead of fresh, wholegrain mustard instead of seeds (just wanted to work with ingredients I already had). With 20 minutes to go: 1 cup of rinsed quinoa, a grated carrot, a handful of button mushrooms and a handful of cauliflower florets. Was delicious, thanks for the recipe.

Absolutely delicious! I wanted to bulk it out a bit. I prepped the sauce in the thermomix and chucked everything in my slow cooker. I added 3 chopped carrots and 5 medium potatos and cooked on low for 8 hours. I put raw beef into the slow cooker (I am lazy and hate browning the meat). Was so amazing! I added the cream in an hour before we servied dinner. Will add peas next time! This made 8 servings for us.

Oops! Yes I missed the sugar. However I had plenty of the curry over and froze enough for another meal. When I reheated it I added some of my plum chutney I had made and it was delicious.

Was a bit hesitant about this curry as I am used to sweeter beef curries. It was very nice but might add Apple or banana next time. Only had 600gr of chuck so decreased most other ingredients. Will keep beef a bit chunkier as well as did shrink a lot but very tender. Didn't have chili so used small amount of chili flakes and only 1 tablespoon of curry. Added chopped carrot half way through and used coconut cream. Also thickened with cornflour. Overall very nice and easy. The sweetness is just my preference.

oaklandspark: I use Keens curry powder and I add 3 tablespoons.
I add potato and pumpkin after about 15 mins of adding beef. Add other vegetables like beans, peas, corn etc after about half an hour.
I also serve with yoghurt instead of cream to give what I think is a nicer taste

I've made this a few times now and cook it for longer, with some added veg. It is really tasty. BUT I have never added 3 tablespoons of curry powder! Except for 1 time when I had to throw the curry away- it was awful! What curry powder are you using? Or is tablespoon a misprint?

Just made this for the 1st time, used 1 teaspoon of chilli paste instead of a chilli, could taste the spice but wasn't spicy, next time will use 1 1/2 teaspoons of chilli paste. Beautiful flavour, never made a curry from scratch before, will definately cook again, great recipe.

Fantastic! Surprisingly makes alot of sauce so taking the last reviewer's advice and going to brown some beef and use the leftover sauce to make pies

Delicious!
I have made this multiple times. It is my 'go to' beef curry recipe. Sometimes I add the chilli sometimes I don't, it's just as wonderful without it, I also halve the curry powder for my fussy children. Served on rice or mash with brocollini. YUM!
I do find it makes a lot of sauce but I use the leftover sauce with browned beef mince and make easy mince pies.
Thanks for this awesome recipe.

ms-muse:MC (measuring cup) I just use any cream I have on hand - this is our go to curry recipe. Today I’ve made it using pure cream, other times have used thickened cream of cooking cream.

I made this 2 weeks ago. The beef I had added was just sooooo tough. I cooked it for an extra hour the next day but it was just no good. But we really liked the sauce.
So so I tried again tonight using chuck steak I had in the freezer. I only had 600g of beef so I added some pumpkin and potato after it had been cooking for 15 mins and some peas when I added the cream with only half an hour to go.
After trying it the first time, I used 3 birds eye chillies with the seeds left in this time round as we both like it quite spicy.
I still have quite a bit of sauce left over so I intend browning some mince and adding it to the sauce to make so meat curry pies in my pie maker.
I also served up with some yogurt which really added to the curry. This dish is definately on my favourites list.

I enjoyed the curry, but it was way too hot for my kids (6 & 4) and I only added 2 tbspn curry powder left the chillis out! Next time I would use only 2 tspns of curry powder and use the babas curry powder, not standard curry powder.
