I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, Chicken

  • 100 grams onions, (medium, chopped in half)
  • 400 grams tinned tomato, chopped or crushed
  • 400 grams chicken breast or thigh fillet, lean & diced (about 3cm)
  • 2 tablespoons Tandoori Paste
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 100 g water
  • 1 tablespoon Vegetable stock paste
  • 160 grams red lentils, dry
  • 130 grams cream, light for cooking
  • 1 pinches salt

      If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
      For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

    I Can't Believe It's Not Butter, Chicken
  1. Place onion in TM bowl and chop for 5 sec / speed 5. Scrape sides of bowl and add oil. Saute 4 mins / Varoma / speed 1 / MC off.
  2. Scrape sides of bowl & add Tandoori Paste. Cook 1 min / 100°C / speed 1.
  3. Add Tomatoes, water, stock paste & lentils. Cook 20 mins / 100°C / speed 1 / Counter-clockwise operation .
  4. Add chicken pieces and cook 15 mins / 100°C / speed Gentle stir setting / reverseCounter-clockwise operation. Repeat for a further 5 mins if chicken is not cooked.
  5. Add cream and salt and mix 1min / speed 2 / reverse Counter-clockwise operation.
  6. Serve with boiled rice or warm Naan bread.
