      TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

  1. Slice chicken into pieces no thicker than 1.5cm. Season with salt and paprika and arrange in the Varoma. Set aside for now

Add onion and garlic to bowl and chop for 5 seconds, speed 5.5. Scrape down and repeat if necessary

Add oil and saute for 3 minutes, 120 degrees, speed 1.2 with MC (measuring cup) off

Add 1 tbsp of paprika and cook for a further 1 minute, 120 degrees, speed 1.2 with MC off

Add tinned tomatoes, water (using the empty tomato tin to measure), stock paste and salt and pepper to taste. Place Varoma into position and cook for 25 minutes, Varoma, Speed 2

Once time is up check that the chicken is cooked through. If its not then cook for a further 5 minutes or until cooked through.

Remove Varoma and set aside. Add sour cream to bowl and mix for 10 seconds speed 2.5

Combine sauce and chicken and serve over rice, pasta, cous cous or mashed potato, topped with fresh parsley.

Tip

You can cook the rice before hand and keep warm in the thermoserver while cooking the dish.

I add green vegies to the Varoma when there is 15 minutes left of cooking time, to serve on the side.

This dish is very easy to adjust, you could easily sneak in some more vegies (eg. zucchini, carrot) at the second step.

If you want your sauce less chunky (for picky eaters) simply blitz for a few seconds after adding the sour cream.

This is a pre-thermy favourite of mine that I adapted from another recipe tmrc_emoticons.)

Very, very tasty. I love Love paprika. I actually used smoked paprika and added some mixed vegetables to the chicken in the last 10 mins. It certainly made enough for a couple of meals for myself and my partner, so when we had it the second time I added another tablespoon of smoked paprika and the rest of the tub of sour cream. I think it made it better Wink

When I made this I used vege stock (from the chip) in 100mls of water, as the tomatoes has quite a bit of liquid. This made the dish pefect.
Served with quinoa and greek yoghurt, it was delicious

    Yummy dish thanks.

I would recommend using a few tbsp of water only if using diced tomatoes (instead of half tin) as half tin made it a little too watery. Also I added chilli and this made it extra delicious!

  • A nice consistency, and

A nice consistency, and plenty of sauce, but not such a great flavour - the sour cream was a bit strong! Next time, I'd add chicken stock instead of water, try smoked paprika to balance out the sweetness of the tomatoes, and reduce the quantity of sour cream used. Went brilliantly with our dumplings, though, and the chicken was cooked through the first time.

    Absolutely love this dish!

Very easy to make but adding the veggies so soon over cooks them in my opinion and comes out abit too mushy. Besides that its a big hit in our house tmrc_emoticons.)

Would this freeze well do you think? I want to make it for someone to help them out so was hoping to make it now and have a meal they can just defrost when they need it.
