homemade maple syrup

Ingredients

1 bottle(s)

  • 200 gram white sugar, 3/4 of a cup
  • 300 grams brown sugar, 1 and 1/4 of a cup
  • 250 grams water, 1 cup
  • 1 tablespoon maple extract

Recipe's preparation

    maple syrup - homemade quick and easy
  1. Place white sugar, brown sugar and water into your thermo.

    Set to speed 2 and temp 100, keep thermo on until mixture boils and bubbles away nicely. (about 4-5 minutes).

  2. reduce speed to 1

    reduce temp to 90

    add the maple extract, cook for 3 minutes.

  3. Cool and bottle. It makes a rather large size bottle of maple syrup. Once cooled it will thicken a little and pour nicely onto pancakes, french toast and bacon.

Tip

If you like a thicker sauce, reduce the white sugar and increase the brown sugar.  It tastes as good as shop bought maple syrup.

(maple extract is hard to find in Australia, however I found Hindustans Groceries has a good cheap supply).
