      Recipe is created for
      TM 5
If you are using a Thermomix® TM6 measuring cup with your Thermomix® TM5:
For cooking (simmering) at temperatures of 95°C or above (200°F), the simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup, as the TM6 measuring cup fits tightly in the lid. The simmering basket rests loosely on top, is steam-permeable, and also prevents food spatter from the mixing bowl.

Recipe's preparation

    RICE
  1. Cook rice as per BCB recipe Boiled Rice. This will take approximately 20 minutes.

Remove simmering basket from bowl, and allow rice to drain while the remainder of the dish is cooking.

    Quickly rinse bowl and replace.
  2. CHOW MEIN
  3. Place onion, carrot and garlic clove into bowl.
    Chop 3 seconds/speed 5.
Using spatula scrape down the sides of the bowl.
    Add 30g of olive oil.
    Sautee 3 mins/100 deg/1Counter-clockwise operation/mc off.
Add water, curry powder, stock, tomato paste, kejap manis, beans and celery to the bowl.
    Insert simmering basket.
Weigh 550g (-/+) lean minced beef to the basket.
    Replace the lid.
    Set time 17 mins/100 deg/sp 1.5 Counter-clockwise operation

Meanwhile, thinly slice your cabbage. This can be done at the beginning in your Thermomix if you wish.

Using your spatula, break the meat down to desired texture. Set aside, being mindful that it will be quite wet (you may wish to set it inside your Thermoserver to minimise spills on the bench.

Add cabbage to the bowl, and using your spatula to submerge the cabbage. Add contents of the simmering basket to the bowl.

    Continue to cook for 3 minutes/100 degrees/sp 1.5Counter-clockwise operation

Place desired amount of rice (about 400g cooked weight) into your 2.6 litre THERMOSERVER. Add the reamining ingredients, and stir with your spatula to combine. You may wish to add more or less rice depending on the liquid content and personal preference, or if you were wanting to flesh it out to feed a small army.

Sliced, buttered baguette makes a nice addition to this.

You may wish to halve the curry powder for a subtle flavour. you could also use KEENS if so desired.

Hi- I’ve read and re-read the recipe and I can’t see where you add the curry powder? I’m half way through cooking the mince and the curry powder is sitting on my bench unused! Thanks
