Recipe's preparation

    Gnocchi Dough
  1. 1. Peel and chop sweet potato into 1-2cm cubes. (The smaller the pieces, the quicker they will steam). Add sweet potato to Varoma tray, and water to Closed lid. Steam - Varoma temp, speed 2/15 minutes.

    2. Empty water from Closed lid. Allow sweet potato to cool slightly before adding to Closed lid. Mix speed 5/10 seconds, scrape down sides and repeat.

    3. Add parmesan, yolks and seasonings and mix speed 5/10 seconds.

    4. Add flour and knead - Dough mode 2 minutes. Note - if the dough is too sticky, add more flour and knead for 30 seconds more each time until it is a manangeable texture.

    5. Turn out on a floured surface and divide into 4 portions. Roll each portion into a rope and cut into equal pieces. Shape each into a round and press with the back of a fork. Set aside.

  2. Sauce
  3. 1. Place tomatoes on a baking tray, sprinkle with salt and drizzle with oil, and bake for 10 minutes at 180deg. Keep warm.

    2. Add oil, garlic and spring onion to Closed lid and chop - speed 7/4 seconds. Then saute - Varoma temp, speed 1/3 minutes.

    3. Add cream, stock, water and sage and cook - 100 deg, speed 2/5 minutes.

    4. Add tomatoes. If they are still baking just add them later.

  4. Cooking Gnocchi
  5. 1. Bring a large pot of salted water to the boil and add gnocchi, removing with a slotted spoon when they float to the surface.

  6. Combining Gnocchi & Sauce
  7. 1. Add cooked gnocchi to Closed lid and cook - Counter-clockwise operation 100 degrees, Gentle stir setting 2 minutes.

    2. Spoon into serving bowls and garnish with pine nuts and extra sage.

    3. Serve immediately.

Just made it - delicious! I couldn't find Philadelphia Cooking Cream so I used a normal block of Philly cheese. Taste was fabulous - it looked a bit 'split'.

Also, I made so many gnocchi that there were several layers on my prep plate and they all stuck together. So I'll use more flour on the outside of the gnocchi when I roll and cut, if they need to sit for a bit before cooking (probably best to cook straight away).
    Yum!

Yum! The flavours were amazing. Tomatoes were delicious bursts of flavour along with the pine nuts. If you haven't made the sauce I recommend you do. You will not regret it! Might even have to make the sauce in bulk and freeze it for other pasta dishes 🤤

I found my gnocchi to be not as soft as i hoped it would be but that was my first attempt ever at gnocchi.

Delicious! Have used the gnocchi recipe a couple of times but tonight made the sauce too. Yummo! I used 1/2tbs ground sage as I didn't have any leaves and 200ml regular cream with 250ml of water. We all licked the bowls 😋

  • I added prawns to the sauce.

I added prawns to the sauce. This worked well. I used the butterfly attachment and cooked the prawns until they turned pinky/reddish.

Very nice! I enjoyed the sweet potato twist and found the gnocchi to be a good texture. I doubled the Parmesan as I thought it would add a little flavour. I think baking the potato would lessen the water content and reduce the need for addittional flour. This might make it lighter. All in all I was quite impressed though.

  • Delicious! Light fluffy

    Submitted by MG2096 on 27. December 2014 - 19:43.

Delicious! Light fluffy gnocchi - something I didn't think I would be able to do. I altered the recipe slightly - only 2 egg yolks and half the amount of flour. It worked really well.  I also served it with a different sauce, preferred by the family.

I've frozen the leftover uncooked gnocchi, and plan to have it with a burnt butter sage and walnut sauce.

Thanks for the recipe Krissy - it's a keeper!

Nice and easy to follow. The gnocchi was not as soft as I would have liked it and lacked some flavour. Sauce was nice. Wold like to try again and tweak the gnocchi a bit.

  • I think I stuffed up the

    Submitted by d_nire on 29. October 2014 - 19:27.

I think I stuffed up the sauce originally. I used the entire spring onion but I think it is only meant to be the white part as the onion flavour was very strong. I panicked thinking the kids wouldn't eat it so I passed the sauce through a strainer to remove all the onion and garlic then put it back in the TM with some extra cream, this softened the flavour and also toned down the bright green colour of the sauce. I also roasted a few extra tomatoes. I didn't have any Philly cream so I used normal cream which may account for the difference in flavour too.

Will definitely try this again using only the white of the spring onion or perhaps only 2 spring onions. My first attempt at gnocchi so dispute the sauce issue I'm proud of the result. Thanks for the recipe tmrc_emoticons.)
